MG MGB Technical - Rebuild Restart
I'm installing a rebuild engine for my '75 MGB. The engine was rebuilt and then sat in a garage for about a year. A small spot of rust has appeared on the flywheel. This has made me somewhat concerned about the condition of the internals. Would a few squirts of penetrating oil in each cylinder be advised prior to the restart? This is my first MG and I fear a seized engine might be in the works. |

Spray oil in the cylinders, remove valve cover spray oil on the rockers / shaft, down the push rods so the oil gets on the lifters, cam lobes, remove the spark plugs, try and turn it over by hand, if no issue, reinstall valve cover, crank it over but so that it does not start (Remove Coil Wire / disconnect electrical to fuel pump) Build up oil pressure, re-attach the spark wires, ect. start her up, but do not rev it up. Good Luck Vic P.S. If oil has been sitting for a year change it first. vadelsohn@cogeco.ca |
