MG MGB Technical - Replace Reverse Lamps with LED

I'm having trouble finding a conversion chart. The bulbs I have now are OSRAM 12V18W. I think any Sylvania Zevo 578/6411 will work. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

Dan,
the info is in your Driver's Handbook (not a workshop manual) along with lots of other useful driver's and maintenance/servicing info.

From a Spridget Driver's Handbook - Reverse bulbs are 18w (except France) GLB 273.

Or BFS 273 / LLB 273 but equivalents filament bulbs may come out as 21w, not that it matters with LED as long as they're about the right length of festoon bulb as connects have a bit of spring give in them.

UK I know but this are what I had in my midget and they're very bright (good quality and cooling fins). - https://www.classiccarleds.co.uk/products/2-x-classic-car-led-reversing-light-bulbs-glb273-5630-smd-6-led

Thanks Nigel. I still have the original handbook. I wish there were a cross-reference of those numbers to LED replacements. In any event I used Sylvania Zevo 211-2. Vast improvement! Thanks.

Sorry Dan I had no idea what a Sylvania Zevo 578/6411 was till I looked it up, it costs and arm and a leg over here. That's the difference in countries and over here we'd just look up something like 'GLB 273 LED UK' and this would be the first result. - https://www.classiccarleds.co.uk/collections/12-volt-collection/273

I've used this company so I know their products are good. That Sylvania Zevo 578/6411 looks like it'd be a good product, you'd certainly hope so at the price over here.

Great point! I wanted to finish the task today rather than waiting on delivery.

No I think if you have a good company in your country selling good quality items then that's the place to shop.

I think you'll be perhaps surprised and pleased with the brightness a good led bulb can give and less load on the system.

Cheers.
