MG MGB Technical - Restoration

Hi folks - was wondering if you might be able to advise me.

I have a 1966 mgb roadster in reasonable condition. It was shipped over to Australia early in it's life and then back over here in 1997.

It has been garaged for most of it's life, but has a couple of dents, needs a respray and I might have a quirky paint job done on it. It's my dream to get it to Mint(ish) condition. It needs chrome spokes as opposed to painted.

Any ideas how much it might cost (roughly) - the bodywork is generally sound, as is the engine. 55,000 miles. I've spent over 1000 / year on it in the five years I've owned it. The chrome is in pretty good condition.

I know it's vague, and I haven't got any pictures.

Any ideas how much it might be (maximum), and who to recommend?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

A really good paint job will set you back £2500, Chrome wires and new tyres about £700. Then add the cost of all the other little bits - they soon mount up and I reckon you will end up paying around £4000.

Ihave a 78b. I bought it for $2500us. After a new top, tires, seat covers and foams, many new parts, new paint, chrome,. $3500us. Total 5500 dollars in car. Good luck, and have fun. I know I did.
