MG MGB Technical - Rocker Arm Bushings, Orientation
I asked the following question on the MGC board regarding rocker arm bushings but haven't had a response. Maybe the B is similar in this respect and someone here can advise me? "I purchased new bushings for the C but see that the ID groove only spans about 240 degrees of the ID. The ID groove in the old bushings went oil hole to oil hole or about 330 degrees. I've read that I should have the split at the top of the arm but if I put the split on the top,the groove doesn't overlap either hole. My question is do I need to align the groove with one of the holes or isn't it necessary? Also, even though I probably don't need to, I plan to predrill the holes for the pushrod lubrication and drill the other hole after the bushings are installed" Thanks in advance for your thoughts! Happy Holidays! Jim |

You want the oil groove at the base of the rocker arm. The joint, in the rocker bush, goes at the top of the rocker arm. If you have access to a Bentley manual, there's a picture showing how everything goes together in the section on the engine lubrication system. RAY |
