MG MGB Technical - Rubbing rear wheels

I have recently installed some Knock om Minilites to my MBG with 195x 50 Yokohamas (great improvement to handling). The inside lip of the wheel arch has been flatened but the tyre stills rubs on one side when cornering. Is there any thing else I can do to prevent the rubbing ie suspension etc. The gap between the wheel and the ardch is less on one side than the other by about 25mm.

Yeah, I would think 50 series tires is really pushing it. Short of further flaring out your wheel arches, the addition of a "Panhard" rod would keep the rear axle from moving from side to side. An example can be seen at:

Check the archives. I seem to remember the MG Owners Club selling these too.

The different clearance is 'normal', usually less on the LHS. Does it have a w/w axle? Or have you converted from Rostyles? Even standard tyres rub on a conversion, I have found, even with conversion hubs. In the end I fitted a w/w/ axle. But 195 is a bit big. Stiffer springs will help, but will increase oversteer.

On my 79 le I notice that when I drive over a dip in the road, similar to a settling in a line repair across street, my car just briefly feels as if the brakes were applied or car held back by some superior force.

It is felt in the shifter (tranny) but no real noises. Car handles pot hole bumps that each individual tire may hit or wash board quite well.

My guess is the oil in rear shocks is low or weak and tires are rubbing briefly.

Has anyone had a similar experience??

Tires are stock on le rims

The shock absorbers will have no affect on whether the tyres rub or not. *Are* there any rub-marks in the rear arches or on the tyres?
