MG MGB Technical - Seat belt plastic clip cups
I purchased a group of plastic seat belt cups on Ebay recently. I have a total of 5 of them, but to my surprise, I discovered today that all 5 are not the same. In the attached photo you can see the one on the right has the (broken) mounting tabs flush with the back of the cup. On the left hand one though the tabs are out at the front face of the cup, requiring....it would seem....stand off spacers between the tabs and the vinyl mounting surface on the car. Also, the right hand (tabs flush with back) cup is completely open inside. The other one has internal plastic guides inside the cup that are apparently designed for a different type of seat belt clip. Can anyone enlighten me on this subject? Unfortunately, I need the "open inside" style to fit my VB belts, and both of those have the broken tabs. Thanks, BH |

BH: The cups with interior guides fit seat belts that had a "bayonet" style end found on later (after 73-74 I think) MGBs and midgets. My 73B has the open cups and that hold the wide (1 3/8") "D" shaped rectanglar end. Hope this helps. Lyle |
