Vignes,
Have owned both servo and non servo 1800 B's. To be honest there isn't a great deal of difference. Some prefer the "feel" of non servo, others the more delicate servo'd assistance. Personal choice really, unless you have a compromised right foot doesn't make any difference to stopping distance.

Can concur with that. I've got a V8 with servo and driven one with it disabled and apart from the first push of the pedal where I was looking for any difference I didn't notice the lack of it at all. Even less use for long-distance driving I would have thought, assuming that means many miles without needing to use the brakes.

When I bought my 1969 Roadster, it was fitted with an indirect action servo, which developed a problem, so I removed it, and drove the car for about a year with no servo, about a month ago I replaced it with an OE one from moss, I much prefer to drive the car with a servo fitted than driving it with out one, this is true when driving in town in heavy traffic, if you do go for a servo, I prefer the option of fitting it to the R/H inner wing, rather than fitting it to L/H side, the reason for this is the pipe run, on the R/H side its shorter, and the pipes can be better secured, it is not in the way for any maintenance, and you can even remove the engine with it in place, A.T

"and you can even remove the engine with it in place".
What makes you think it could be in the way in it's usual N/S position?
Allan Reeling

Alan I am sorry but you have completely misunderstood my point about fitting the servo to the R/H inner wing, it is because of the brake pipe run and brake pipe fixings, but thank you for pointing out, that the servo when fitted to the L/H side is not in the way either when removing the engine, I am sure this information will be of use to someone who is not familiar with these cars. To my way of thinking that is much more in the way than on the left-hand end of the bulkhead shelf, especially given that the only 'cost' is a couple of lengths of pipe.
Paul Hunt

thanks everyone. will not fix the servo
