MG MGB Technical - Spanner size needed for rear brake nipple on 1972
Hi all, was wondering if anyone knows of the top of their head the spanner size needed for the rear brake bleed nipple on a 1972 MG B GT. it looked very small to me !! Thx. Jon. |

Those on all the brake cylinders I've had in the last few years have taken a 7mm spanner. It's presumably not the original size but seems common. |

Yep just done mine 7mm did the job.. |

I also use a 7mm spanner, it fits better than any other spanner I have tried. Clifton |

Originals are 1/4. FRM |

Both Fletcher and the others are right. There are so many metric replacement cylinders out there that all one can do is try both sizes. It just depends on where/when your replacement cylinders were made. Related question: how about the top-up bolt on Armstrong shox? I just happen to have a 17/32 which fits perfectly, but I can't believe that was the intended size. Is this a vestigial remainder of the Whitworth system? Allen |
