MG MGB Technical - spark plug problem????
I changed my spark plugs yesterday, but it didn't sound or run very well, it was misfiring coughing and spluttering. So i took the new ones out and put the old ones back in, now it was just the same with new and old the thing is it was ok with the old ones really. What have I done wrong??? I am not a mechanic or very mechniclly minded, but i will have a go. The car is a mgb roadster 1979. Any help will be greatly apreciated |

I wonder if you have shown up an incipient fault in the HT leads. These must be disturbed to fit the plugs. Check that your spark is not running to ground before reaching the plugs. |

You presumably did one plug at a time so no chance of plug leads being mixed up......So I'd agree with Stan! M |

Stuart, If you are looking at the top of the dizzy cap... the lead to the #1 plug (front)should be at about 2 oclock...then moving clockwise the next lead should be #2 plug then the #4 plug and finally the #3 plug. If the leads are correct then check the condition of your cables and make sure they are all on tight. Frank |
