MG MGB Technical - Steering Wheel

When I purchased my 72B the steering wheel was starting to have rust pits in the spokes. I have gotten rid of the rust and have them polished. What sort of treatment should be applied to preserve the finish. It was originally a greyish but was taken off in the rust removal process. Thanks for the help. Ed

Silver wheel paint (aerosol from Moss) comes close to original finish. Jim
