MG MGB Technical - Steering wheel Repair
Anyone have a good product for repairing the outer rim of a black steering wheel (Pre 1968)? I know POR makes a steering wheel repair kit, but was wondering if anyone has found another epoxy product that works well and matches the color? I only have a single crack and it is not yet all the way around. The POR kit looks nice for a wheel that needs a lot of work, but $80 for a single crack is a tough decision. |

The Eastwood Company (.com) has a good steering wheel repair kit. If you don't already have their catalog - get it! They also have the BEST rust remover on the market! |

Look for a product called PC-7 in the plumbing or glue section in the home improvement store. It is an epoxy putty used in those kits. You will need to paint the wheel regardless which repair product you select. |

Could you just use industrial strength Araldite? Not the 5 minute stuff but the stuff that takes 24 hours to cure. You can add a little ink to it to colour it although you should experiment with this a bit to figure out how much you need to add. Simon |

The PC-7 that Eastwood offers does not require painting on black wheels, as it is a glossy black. A priority as far as I am concerned, as paint will just rub or flake off. |

That is what I needed to hear Jeg. Painting black plastic has never worked well for me (have not tried Krylon's new plastic pain, Fusion yet) |

Bruce, my 69 wheel was in good shape but I put the leather cover on from Moss. Excellent fit and look. Replaced the wheel with a fat Moto Lita but the original still looks great hanging on the wall. LaVerne |
