MG MGB Technical - sticking front brakes
After driving a few miles the front brakes tend to stick on slightly for a second before fully realeasing, when I lift the front end and try the breakes they seem fine and do not stick at all, only when the car is doing over 15 mph, the pads look OK and the discs are not warpped or scored, infact they are very smooth and bright. Any ideas on where best to start to sort this one. Many Thanks. |

David, i had a similar problem which i cured just this morning. My brakes tendered to stick when used off & on in heavy traffic, i was told that the inside of the flexible hoses can kink so that fluid cannot run back to the master cylinder. This small amount of fluid causes the brakes to stay engaged for a small amount of time. I replaced the hoses this morning & bleed the system. All now seems well. Good luck Scott |

A faulty brake servo can cause this problem - if the air valve doesn't close completely after braking. Also it is worth ensuring that the caliper pistons are free to move. Just lever them back into the caliper (watch for fluid overflow at the master cylinder) and pump the brakes to force the piston out again - repeat a couple of times for each cylinder. |
