MG MGB Technical - SU Carby Identification
I have come into posession of a pair of SU carbies but dont know what they fit. They appear to be 1 and 3/4 inch, 4 mounting holes, 3 holes to mount the air filter, red plastic cover over the bottom part of the jet. Body has numbers "AUD9" and "PDC2". Fuel bowl "AUD 2140". Choke bracket"AUD3347". Any clues? Thank you, Matthew. |

They sound like HS6 carbs but the numbers you have quoted are common to lots of carb specs. Pull out the needle and tell us what needle number is fitted - this will narrow the range! I assume there is no little ally tag attached to the float bowl lid screws? |

It sounds like Healy 3000 carbs. Not certain though. Ray |

Thanks Guys. No tags present. Spring loaded needle marked 'BAY' only. A more modern type?? Cheers, Matthew. |

BAY needles were not fitted as standard to any cars on the SU listing. Are you sure that that isn't BAK - these were fitted to Rover 3500 P6 cars. The only other candidate for needles that rich is the Marina 1750 (Aus) which had BAD needles in 2 HS6 carbs. |

Definately "BAY". Butterfly valve is stamped "20.5" Maybe Australian market only? Much appreciated, cheers. Matthew. |
