MG MGB Technical - SU vent problem!!!!!!!
I have dual HS4s that are dumping fuel out the vent tube on hard left hands turns. I just had to leave an autocross event early due to the problem. Right now I have the factory steel vent line between the carbs with a rubber hose coming off the "T" and run down as a draft tube behind the transmission. Has anyone else encountered this kind of problem? The engine starves for fuel coming out of the turn and runs rough/stalls. I might add that this doesn't happen on right hand turns, and it doesn't happen IN the turn - only coming out of it. The fuel tank is 1/2 full, the fuel pump, regulator, lines, etc... are all new and the carbs were rebuilt at University Motors, so I know standard wear and leaks are NOT the issue. Thanks in advance!!!! |

I just received an email from Joe Curto. He's the man!!! In case anyone is interested, apparently there's a float for the SU that isn't hinged. That should solve the problem! |

Hi Jeff Could you please elaborate a bit on that 'miracle float' solution ? Thanks in advance, Gerard |

I'm not 100% certain of the float design, as I haven't seen one yet. I assume that it mounts with the three float lid screws and slides on a center pin through the float chamber. This of course is speculation until I actually get one in my hands. |
