MG MGB Technical - Supercharged / EFI

I have a 1977 MGB. Compression Test done yesterday. 141, 148, 148, 145.... It is a stock engine that I rebuilt 2 years ago with only a little over 100 miles on it. I just ordered a 5 speed Sierra Conversion and am 80% close to purchasing the supercharger and 20% is saying wait for the EFI. I do not want a race car just a nice daily driver to keep up with the daily stop and go traffic.

I would please like your help with any information you can provide in favor of the supercharger or waiting for the EFI.

If you have a supercharger, can you please let me know how you feel about it? How it runs in 1st gear thru 4th and o/d or 5th with Sierra Conversion?

How it is holding up, and has anyone had any problems.

Last, If I went with the supercharger do you think Moss Motors next move is to put a EFI system on the Supercharger?

Thank You for whatever information you can provide. I have read a lot of post but am looking at how this really drives as a daily driver.

Just purchased the supercharger. I received some good responses from e-mails.

I do need an answer on the fuel pump. Moss sells the high-flow, but also has reports that they do not last a year if that.

Can someone please tell me what else will work with the supercharger, or the amount of psi needed?

Thank You,

Ray

Your carb is upstream and not pressurized. The stock fuel pump ought to just fine.

Ray- Check out the supercharger current thread and archives. I found the need for 3 belt adjustments early on after install, then trouble-free, smooth sailing after. Problem with your Sierra-5 is you won't be using it much: I find that just powering out by depressing the pedal beats a downshift. Keep your third-eyeball on the boost gauge and that extra ear on the engine sound under the whine. Detonation can ruin a perfectly good day otherwise!!! Vic
