MG MGB Technical - SUs - distributor and fuel changes??

I am struggling through a conversion to SUs on my 80B. Everytime I think I have this figured out, I read or see another set of diagrams that offer differing setups. First, can I still run my electronic ignition or do I have to switch to the 24 distributor? Second, do I need to chenge all of the fuel lines/fuel pump to reflect an earlier setup? Thanks in advance!
Patrick

In a word...no. I run Pointless ignition and an aftermarket pump with no problems.
Feel free to contact me with questions.

Patrick. Mike's answer is basically correct, but it depends on what you want to do with the engine. The distributor you have should be the Lucas CEI type or 45DM4 (but, I am working from memory here--as I remember it, the Opus system was the 45DE4 and has a square box on the side of the distributor while the CEI was the 45DM4 with a black box remoted from the dizzy and the body looking like a standard dizzy). Both the 45DE and 45DM used manifold vacuum for the vacuum advance signal. Some models of the SU carbs have a vacuum take off on the rear carb. The US version of the HIF-4s do not have this, but the UK versions do. If you are going to run the original dizzy, you need to put a rubber nipple cover over this take off port to close it off and hook your vacuum advance to the intake manifold for best results. The standard SU fuel pump will work fine with SU, Z-S and Weber DGV series carbs. Les
