MG MGB Technical - Tail light out
I have a 1972 mgb roadster. All the lights work except for the tail light on the drivers side. Checked the bulb and replaced it. Still nothing. Any suggestions? |

Ronald Check to see the bulb holder connections are clean and bright (corrosion free) and making good contact with the bulb. Check the wires that go to the bulb holder have good corrosion free and tight connectors. Might be a corroded earth connection. Thanks Mike |

If the fronts work both sides then the fuse is OK, and if the number plate light works that side then power is reaching that corner of the car.
If the brake lights and the indicators have equal brightness both sides then the earthing of the dual-filament bulb and the light cluster looks to be good. Earth faults to light clusters usually show up as lamps working, but going bright and dim as other lights are turned on and off - 'discoing'. Which leaves the bullet connection in the red wire to the cluster, and as said the connections inside the bulb holder. |
