MG MGB Technical - The dreaded E clip

I am going to redo my brake hydraulics this weekend, new master cylinder, hoses, wheel cylinders and so forth. The new AP Lockheed wheel cylinders came with E clips that are slightly thinner than the extra clips that I also ordered. I didnt realize that they came with the new cylinders, so I ordered new ones. Anyone know a reason not to use the thinner, presumably orignal type clips?

Knowning that the e clip can be a bugger ( and reading many archive posts)I played around with fitting the clip to a new cylinder on the bench. Went on easily using water pump pliers to squeeze it on, with the ends in the groove on the cylinder. The thinner clips also appear "springier", perhaps to compensate for the thinness? For which reason I will also be sure to wear eye protection.
Kudos to Mr. Zorn and the LBC Co. I ordered my parts on Tuesday lunch hour, and they came Wednesday at 1:30 PM. Pretty nice for a change. And I saved $45 over Moss ( I orderd all OEM parts too) and I got a cookie.
Cheers, Andy

Andrew,
I would use the clips that the cylinder builder supplied.

I did. The thinner ones that came with the AP Lockheed wheel cyliners were exactly the same as the ones that came off. As far as I know they were original to the car. They went on fairly easy using water pump pliers. I used a trick from the archives using a vice grip on the axle flange to hold the cylinder in place. I can see why the replacement that is sold individually would be harder to install.
I replaced the master cylinder, all the hoses, and the rear brakes, (fronts I did previously), and new Valvoline Syntech fluid this past weekend. Now the brakes pull up straight and true.
