MG MGB Technical - Thread size - Pedal box cover
To all, Does anyone know the size of the bolt that fits the pedal box cover as shown in attached picture. Previous owner (I always blame the previous owner) or myself a long time ago secured the cover with a smaller bolt and nut, does the job but requires 2 people to tighten. Have been through my box of left over screws and have every size but the size I want. Thanks. |

David, Moss list these as No 10 UNC. 3 x PMZ308 (Cross Slot)Long 1 x PMZ312 (--"--) Short Their notes on fixings describe 308 as 1/2 inch & 312 as 3/4 inch (likely to be correct) which seems to be the wrong way round compared with the listing on the brake part page! Countersunk headed available with the prefix CMZ. Cheers Charles |

All four on both my 73 and 75 V8 and the same length. The Parts Catalogue for the V8 confirms that, and a 73 RHD would be the same. I think the longer screw is associated with a spacer to fit a pipe clip for some models/markets as the Catalogue quotes 1 x PMZ312 for LHD, and 'as required' i.e 3 or 4 of PMZ 308 for other installations. |

There should be 4 screws 3/16"unf x 1/2" long on a rhd car The Moss cat. gets it mixed up a bit The car that has 3 x 1/2" and 1 x 3/4" is for a dual circuit / non boosted LHD car and the longer bolt is (as well as a spacer)for a D,clip used to support brake pipework from the master cylinder to the distribution block located on the inner guard willy |

Thanks all for the helpful advice. Now I just have to replace the leaking clutch master cylinder and I am back on the road. |
