MG MGB Technical - Tow rope anchoring points?

Hoping I never need to be towed or in case I am asked to give a tow where are the best places to fix a tow rope. Has anyone made a bracket that is for that purpose and where is it fixed?

Steve see the previous thread of mine about lashing eyes.

In my opinion both front and rear are good for towing with.

Source for those eyes? I've not seen them listed in any of the catalogues I've looked at. My CB roadster came to me with them on the front but not the rear, the V8 has them front and rear.

As a tow-er tied round the rear of the leaf spring is pictured in Haynes, as a tow-ee it says to wrap it round the crossmember. In both cases if the rope is parallel to the ground the panels the rope passes under should be OK, but the higher the other vehicle attachment point the greater the risk of bearing against the panel. But the alternative front valances that are lower will definitely be fouled by the rope.

Andy Jennings or Wrexham MG.

No Paul I have a few catalogues, some very old, and not listed anywhere!

I also have old microfiche, which I will check when I get back from holiday.

I may have a spare pair of fronts, and 1 rear.

Could the midget towing eyes (AHA6498) be fitted to the MGB front bumper spring bars? May need another hole or two drilling to suit the towing eye hole centres.

Colin's rear lashing points follow a similar principle.

My PO set up a very clever towing system to tow the MGB behind his motorhome. I have pictures somewhere. I'll try to find them and post them. It involved attaching a tow triangle to the front of the MGB with a hitch to hook onto a ball on the back of the motor home. I know you don't want to do all that but I'll see where he attached the towing triangle and that may help you. Jud

I have checked my early microfiche, and even they do not list front and rear lashing / tow eyes.

Subsequently spotted the later type of lashing bracket in the WSM in the sections on the North American 'Sabrina' bumpers.

Also a few catalogues show the earlier type of towing eye for the MGC, a couple listing them as AHC40. These may have been used on early export MGBs without front overriders as there are pictures around. Clausager details when these were changed to lashing eyes, and rear ones provided.

Thanks for the suggestions- I will check out the tie down brackets but they may not fit mine as it is a RB to CB conversion.
