MG MGB Technical - Transmission Controlled spark Advance system

I have disconnnected the transmission controlled spark advance system from my 79 B and am in the process of cleaning up the engine bay have removed the small solenoid from the top of the pedal box. What is the best thing to do with the wires that attached to this solenoid. Do I need to wrap them in electrical tape as I assume they will be hot whenever the car is in fourth gear. What have others done to overcome this eyesore when it is disconnnected?

The yellow/black wire definitely need insulating as it carries unfused 12v with the gearbox in 4th as you say. If this shorts out it is likely to damage the gearbox and main looms and possibly the gearbox lockout, fuel pump cutoff and ignition switches. The other wire should be black and hence is ground, but common sense says not to have any bare wires flapping about no matter what they carry.

Frank,

I took the wires completely out of the loom, including the ones that go to the switch on the transmission.
