MG MGB Technical - Turn signals not working

I need some direction on fixing my indicators.
My turn signals worked however the switch was broken (would not hold in position when put on), I purchased a new switch and they no longer work. I placed the old switch back on and that did not work either.

I replaced the flasher unit under the glove box and they still do not work.
I have power coming into the purple wire on the switch.
The hazard lights work and flash.

Where to now?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Forget the purple, that is for the headlamp flasher.
I assume the green circuit fuse is OK and the other fused ignition circuits like stop lights, reverse lights, tach etc. still work?

The power to the turn flasher goes through the hazard switch in the off position on green wires, then from the flasher unit to the turn switch on the light-green/brown, and from the turn switch to the lights (including the dash tell-tales) on green/white and green/red wires.

With the ignition on and the turn switch off you should have 12v on the light-green/brown at the turn switch. If so move the switch one way or the other and check that wire again and the green/white or green/red as appropriate. You should have 12v on both, and hence the lights should glow.

If on the light-green/brown but not the others then the switch is faulty. If on both then check the plugs are pushed fully together where the switch loom joins the main loom.

If on none (turn switch normal or operated) then there is a bad connection back towards the turn flasher or the flasher is bad, find the turn flasher and check the green and light-green/brown wires there.

If on the green but not the light-green/brown then the flasher is bad, regardless of the fact it might be new.

If not on the green then go back to the hazard switch and check both greens there. These switches can go iffy as the grease hardens as they generally get so little use, sometimes flicking them on and off a few times acts as a short-term fix.

If no voltage on either green work back through the bullet connectors to the fusebox.

Paul,
Thanks for all the great tips. I played with the system last night, and got the lights to work and flash when I ran a wire from the green wire in the fuse box to the green and red wire on the flasher unit under the dash. I did have one light out on the back left hand side which I need to replace/fix. If the system does not work on it own I would suspect that the nest of green wires with the big rubber connections in the engine compartment need to be cleaned and good connections made.
