MG MGB Technical - Two transmission questions

I just finished replacing the clutch in my 1970 mgb roadster. It has a four-synchro, non-OD transmission. I had forgottent what a good clutch felt like. Wow!

While removing the engine/tranny, there were two sets of wires connected. One set went to the large (about 1 1/4 inch) switch and the base of the shifter extension. This is the backup light connector, I believe. The other connection is to a smaller switch (or something) on the right-hand side about the middle of the extension. I hav ebeen unable to find anything about this in Haynes or the Moss catalog exploded diagrams. It is not the normal OD switch. That is the same as the backup swithc and is in the other socket on the opposite side of thebase of the extension. The mystery switch is only about 1/2 to 3/4 inch in diameter. What it?

Second, when I disconnected the speedometer cable, the cable was connected directlry to the side of the transmission. I thought that the was supposed to be a right-angle drive here, as well as one behind the speedo in the dash. Am I wrong? Is there supposed to be a RA drive at the tranny?

The extra switch is used in the seatbelt warning system. There should be a right angle drive between cable/tranny. They seem to break easy and some people just bypass them. This is a little easier with the OD cable as it is longer, but can be done with a std. cable.
