MG MGB Technical - unknown engine
I AQUIRED A '78 midget WHICH HAD BEEN TAKEN TOTALLY TO PIECES AND THEN FORGOTTEN ABOUT. A FRIEND BOUGHT THE HOUSE AND FOUND IT IN THE GARAGE SO I CAN'T TELL WHO THE OWNER WAS..... I HAVE THE CAR MORE OR LESS ASSEMBLED NOW AND HAVE JUST BOUGHT A NEW STARTER MOTOR AS THE ORIGINAL WAS MISSING.HOWEVER THE STARTER I BOUGHT WHICH IS A 10 TOOTH 'INERTIA 'TYPE STARTER DOES NOT MESH WITH THE FLY WHEEL... I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT MY ENGINE IS NOT AN MG ENGINE AT ALL PLEASE HELP... IT LOOKS LIKE A 1500 ENGINE BUT HAS AN ENGINE NUMBER YC61453HE WHICH IS NOT AN MG ENGINE. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS IS FROM SO THAT I CAN SOURCE A STARTER CAN'T WAIT FOR A REPLY THANX RODGER |

That sounds like a spitfire 1500 engine. Check out VTR.com they might be able to correctly identify it for you. |

Always thought that Spitfires had a V 12 Rolls Royce engine :-) |
