MG MGB Technical - Vent lever
1978 mgb roadster. Which direction do you put the lever under the dash that opens the vent? I have pushed and pulled the lever and can't tell any difference in the air coming in. |

I believe if you push it forward it will close off the air, Pull it back to open. I also have two little flaps on either side of the tranny tunnel by the foot area that open and close. If you're not getting much air, you may also have a vent full'o leaves. Check it out. Luis '69 B roadie |

...also, the air coming from the pull flap does not exit out of the dash vents. This air rushes out from behind the radio console on either side. |

Dan is right. The air coming out of your windshield vents is controled by one of the rotary dials on the dash (or in the center dash console in '77 and up Bs). A flap connected to the dial turns the air on or off. Air is ducted from behind the radio panel through (what else) ducts leading to the windshield vents. |

Arlen, pull the lever towards you for fresh air. It only comes out of the vents on either side of the transmission tunnel somewhere by your knees. If there's no air comeing out of the vents there will be a lot of leaves in the air vent box. To remove them it's best to remove them thru' the fresh air door behind the radio. Hard to get to, need to remove the radio. Andy 74 MGB GT |

The easy way to clean out those dead leaves is : wait untill a hot dry day , open the vent and go for a _sprited_ ride over bad pavement , the leaves will all come roaring out from under the dashboard onto your feet -Nate |
