MG MGB Technical - Vinyl Hood - How to repair?
I have found a hood in my shed that I forgot I had, it has a zip out rear window, all the clear plastic is still reasonably clear. However the vinyl hood has worn on the outside where the front metal roof support is. The vinyl has peeled off over a couple of inckes in two places. Can a paint of vinyl be applied to the material that is showing, I would imagine that it would let rain in in its current condition. I think the hood is would saving as everything else is perfectly fine. Any suggestions anyone? regards Andrew. |

Andrew, I'm not familiar with vinyl paint, but I suppose that it couldn't hurt anything to try your idea. If that doesn't work, then having a trim shop sew in a replacement panel might still be a cost effective solution. |

Hmm? sounds like your top has srunk a bit. This happens due to age. The top frame should be in good shape and only need to replace the vinyl. This should be a cheap fix. I found a good cheap top for my midget on LBCar co. If you fold the top correctly and clean the top it should last a long time. If you good with vinyl and a sewing machine you could repair the top. Good luck |
