MG MGB Technical - Wash/wiper stalk

Hi,
Visitor from the midget board here - trying to help a mate who bust the wash/wiper stalk on his 77 MGB GT.
Got a new unit from Moss Pt No. BAU 1020 and fitted it ok ( well I just plugged in the multi-bullet connector) and while it washes and wipes(albeit only one speed) it won't self-park !!
I'd be grateful if anyone has any ideas what the problem might be.

Thanks,

Malc

Assuming that the old unit was self parking, I can only think that the new item is faulty

I fitted one on Saturday, not from Moss but same part number.

There's a bit more than "just plugging it in". If all the screws (3) are in the cowl, you will have to drop the steering column (three bolts to undo) in order to get at one of the screws which holds the cowl in place, also remove the steering wheel.

I agree, it would appear to be faulty.

Check the pins in the harness socket, that one or more haven't been partially pushed out.

With the wiper switch off the brown/light-green and red/light-green should be connected together. You will have to look for these wires in the main harness, and see what coloured wires in the switch harness as they may not be the same, before using an ohmmeter on the terminals right at the switch (assuming you can get at them). If there is no continuity between those two wires with the switch in the off position then it is indeed faulty.

Thanks for all the advice. I managed the job without removing the steering wheel but I'll get the multi-meter out on the connections as you suggest.
