MG MGB Technical - Weber DGV stalls
I have a Weber DGV with electric choke. It starts fine but as soon as I drive it to the end of the street and stop the rpms drop off and it stalls. As soon as I restart it the car runs fine. Why is it stalling? George |

It sounds like the electric choke needs to be adjusted so that it remains in the on position a bit longer. The choke is opening too quickly and the resulting lean mixture is causing your cold engine to stall. RAY |

Look at fast idle screw setting under the choke. Should be set at 1300 rpm. Or it could be an idle issue - perhaps too low?. There is also a very very small screw under the carb body which adjusts the closure/opening of the throttle butterflies (ie not the choke butterflies). It is a b##### to get at. In other words start with the basics! If the fuel pump is working and the fuel filter is not restricted in any way. I spent along time trying to work out a similar problem and I found out that I had forgotten to put back in the fast idle screw after giving the carb a service and clean! Hope it helps. /Moss |
