MG MGB Technical - Who makes the best wiring kit for a 77 + MGB.

During the last year or so while surfing this website I have noticed a few people mention several different wiring kits used to replace their worn factory wiring. Now that it is time for me to replace mine I would like to know which wiring kit is the best (meaning ease of installation, least confusion, quality) for an MG? I also noticed someone mentioning that he/she had used a painless wiring. Does anyone know if those kits are a direct plug and play set up?

Thanks
Billy Bob from Down the Street

Billy Bob-
British Wiring is the best for quality and completeness. They have looms for every year MGB. Click on this: http://www.britishwiring.com/

I am pleased with the Painless Wiring kit installed in my 76B. 12 circuits, spade fuses, integrated relays for the lights and horn, 6 additional circuits just in case i'm dumb enough to add power windows. it arrived with all wires labled and attached to a fuse box.

I've ordered from British Wiring (crimping tool, wire bullet ends), they have a great product and can provide you with a great product - an original type wiring loom, fuse box and the like.

If you want to change the original system and "upgrade" to a "modern" wiring loom, go painless.

I agree with Steve, British Wiring is a great business to do business with and if I remember correctly, they will supply a harness configured anyway you specify, even mix and match for different setups (late 4 syncro O/D transmission in early MGBs, etc.). Having said that, I would like to explore other avenues. RN, do you have a web site or address for Painless Wiring kits?

If you want to go original, go to British Wiring. I have just installed one of their harnesses in my 74 GT. Great product and customer service!

I am putting a Centech 21 circuit into my V-6 74 1/2 Roadster. I anm using the power seat line for the electric cooling fan, the switched ECM/EEM wire for the fuel pump, so I didn't need to add expense for the extra add on kits for those units. I will be using a stock dash harness. I hope to have pictures up on my web site soon that shows mounting and routing. I am very pleased with the Centech product. I shopped around for about a year before I settled on Centech. Painless also makes a great harness, along with American Wiring, MinStar, etc.

RN,
Do you have an address or website info? I've never seen them advertised anywhere.
Also have a '72 that needs some wiring attention.
Thanks.
