MG MGB Technical - will the hood fit ?
can anyone tell me if any hood will fit any frame, will a takeoff hood fit a fold down frame, i've got a 64 roadster with a hood that you take off,but i want a fold down hood and frame that you leave on the car if you know what i mean, because my hood is new, |

Hi there, the correct folding frame for your car is the grey folding frame, but the later black folding frame is in my opinion much better, but you will need a new hood. I may have a folding frame tucked away if you are interested(am located near Milton Keynes). Ican be contacted on 07875 177743. Cheers, Dave |

I am looking for a packaway hood should you decide to sell it........ |

You can adapt the grey frames to fold down, in a way that is reversible if you change your mind. I did this on my last MGB. You do need to drill a small bolt hole in each metal tab on the ends of the frame. These act as a hinge. |

Any frame should fit any car, it is the tops that must be selected to fit the frame you have. |

Your best bet is to get hold of a copy of Lyndsay Porter's 'Guide to Purchase and Restoration of the MGB', republished as 'The mgb restoration Manual'. Covers the hood as well as many other areas. |
