MG MGB Technical - windshield crack
I have a two inch crack in the upper left corner of the windshield. It runs from the edge of the windshield down I was wondering , at the bottom of the crack, if I drill a small hole, throught the first glass layer, like a rock chip, could I use a windshield repair kit the prevent the crack from getting longer. The kit says not to use on a crack, but with the small hole ,and applying the glue , would it help? |

It's quite common at the windscreen repair places here, they drill a tiny hole then have a fitting that goes on the screen which lets them pressure fill the crack and hole---all you can see when its finished is a tiny little pin sized mark on the screen and the crack disappears ---The glue does need to be pressurised into the crack though otherwise you'll still see it- might pay to get a quote off a windscreen repairer, if your car is insured it's usually a freeby. willy |

I had a huge rock hit my windshield recently. The hit is the size of a golf ball and there are breaks running every direction. I have a windshield that I have put off installing due to what I understand to be difficulties with breakage of new glass on installation. It is a horrible job on the midget, only worse on the B I hear but now I have no choice. The current windshield had been mended with drill holes and glue four or five times with very acceptable results. This hit was just too massive. |
