MG MGB Technical - Windshield washer jets

I need to replace the hoses for the windshield washer jets, but can not figure how to get to them. Are they Inside? Outside? Under the dash? or where?

I admit that I am 50+ and farsighted, but they have to be somewhere!

Thanks, and have a good end of the year!

On my 74 roadster the washer hose from the pump goes through the firewall near the brake and clutch master cylinders. I have two jets and the hoses are under the dash for both. I believe the GT has a single jet with two squirter holes and the hose is also under the dash. In either case the hoses are very difficult to reach, I'm not sure they can be replaced without removing the dash. I did tighten the driver side jet on my 74 after removing the heater air control. I suggest not doing the job around your young children/grandchildren, you may use some words you wouldn't want them to hear. Also make sure you have a good supply of Band-Aids handy. Good luck, Clifton

The windshield washer jets can be replaced. There is nut on the under side of the dash that holds the jet to the body. These can be reached from under the dash. Not that hard on my 67, but may be harder to get to with later models. It takes two people to do the job, one to hold the jet from the outside and one to reach the nut and hose from the under side of the dash. The dash work is best done with the one with the smallest hands.

If you have air vents in the dash, go in that way. Later GT's have 2 washer nozzles. Not sure if earlier GT's are thye same. The wiper rack gets in the way and it's a real fiddle of a job. Especially being 50+. I know............

67 BGT has a single nossle but it is directly in the center of the dash. I list it as one (not THE, but one) of the more difficult things to do on the B.

The wiper tube sits about 1/4 inch in front of the nossle and makes it just super fun to get a wrench on the bolt. Then once it is off, You have to have th nimblest of fingers to get the bolt back on.

Oh, then there is putting the hose back on.

Jim, You must be either a contortionist or a masochist to have that be a "Not to Hard" job.
