MG MGB Technical - Wiring problem, turn signals
I am doing some dash electrical wiring work on my 67 GT and one of the jobs was replacing the left turn signal indicator bulb above the steering wheel which has been burned out for some time. Got it replaced and now when I turn on the right signal both indicators flash. When the left signal is on only the left indicator flashes.....Why? Wiring has not been touched and tracing and matching to wire diagram has shown all wires to be where they should be. When I take the flasher indicator out of it's mounting bracket (thus removing it from ground) then both indicators work as should. Touch a ground with it and both flashers flash. I am lost. |

Curt, I had some weirdness with turn signals as well. I found that I had a bad ground at one of turn signals. The problem was the turn signal assembly which didn't provide an adequate ground on one the passenger side. I added an additional ground from the bulb to the body, and the problem was fixed. But during the process of changing bulbs and other testing, I managed to fry the flasher unit. Replacing the flasher didn't fix the problem, and I eventually found the rael issue. Gabe |

Sounds like you still have a ground problem with one of the lighting units on the right-hand side. It also sounds like you have a non-standard flasher unit, check that it noticeably changes flashing speed when one of the flasher bulbs is out. If not, junk it. |
