MG MGB Technical - Zenith heat shield
I am experiencing vapor lock/fuel evaporation with my Zenith. Can anyone supply me with a dimensioned drawing or photo of the original heat shield installed by the factory. Thanks. Steven. |

Hi Steven, can't help with drawing or pic, mine is back in the car, and you can't see much of it. I purchased mine (old one was only the metal bracket left) from Moss. It did seem a bit expensive at the time, but fitted without struggle and has stopped my fuel evap problem. Cheers Ric |

steven make your own unless you want your car to be concurs. use cardboard tomake a template, this can be made oversized for better protection. a picture of the general shape is in the moss catalogue. use template to cut the shield from an aluminum sheet. use insulation of the furnace variety or other such stuff. apply to both sides. this can be glued on using permatex high temperature silicon gasket maker, 650f or better. worked for me. john |

Thanks for the input. I did not seem to have a need for the heat shield until I recently installed hood insulation. The insulation really cut down on the ambient noise. It also apparently really works on keeping a lid on engine compartment heat. Luckily I will not have to fabricate a heat shield since I found a good used one on ebay for $15. I will post its dimensions before I install it. |
