MG MGB Technical - ZS Carburator
I am new to this website, so i hope you can help. I have a 1979 mgb roadster. I got it from my dad, who baught it new. the car sat for 13 years with the engine dismantled. i put it back togeather, and it ran fine for a little while. i tryed a few more times the next week. than the car revved it self almost to the red line. i was told that i needed to re-build the zenith stromburg carburator. i did that. i know where the fuel line and line that goed to the rectangle thing on the side of the block connects (in the back part of the carb). my biggest question is, What goes to the connection in the front part of the carb. I ndont know if this makes a difference, but this is a left hand drive car. I would love to get this beautiful rest free car on the road and this is all i need to know. Thank you, in advance, for any suggestions. Brett |

Hey Brett, I was given this website from another messagebaord. I think it will help you answer your questions about the ZS carb: http://home.att.net/~allens_gifts/zenithstromberg.htm Write back one way or the other. Reg |

Thank you reg. i found this site before. and still dont know what hose goes into that connection. The brass connection in quetion is, the one on the left hand side of the carburator in the top right photo af the web page you showed me. thanks again for your help. brett |

Brett, From what I remember (don't have the carb in front of me) there are three ports - you mentioned the fuel line and the line from the "rectangle thing on the side of the block" which I assume is the front tappet cover. I think the remaining line comes from the charcoal cannister(s) at the right rear of the engine bay (as you face forward). In my car (also a '79) this port is on the right side of the carb rather than the left (in reference to the photo you mentioned) - my ZS has no ports on the left. Hope this helps, Derek '79B |
