MG MGF Technical - Battery Charging Warning Light ??
I have an 2004 mgtf. On some occasions, the battery charging warning light stays illuminated after starting. If I drive for a just a minute, switch the ignition off, & re-start, it extinguishes. Seems to happen on coldish, damp mornings. More worryingly, it came on as I was driving up the M3 recently (after about an hours driving). Pulled into Fleet services, turned off, re-started & it was fine for the rest of the drive home to Essex, about an hour & a half. It doesn't seem to affect the cars performance at all, any ideas ? |

Is this an alternator problem? Do you have access to a voltmeter Colin? At idle, the battery voltage should be over 13v - if lower, suggests a charging problem... |
