MG MGF Technical - Daily/Weekly Battery Maintenance
Folks, A general warning/advice that if, like me, you don't drive your F everyday, you should still check the battery compartment as part of your weekly checks. I got caught out yesterday when I discovered that my (low maint) battery had leaked acid in and around the battery compartment and you can imagine the mess and damge which has occured. I guess it's one of those things being a mid engined car, we easily remind ourselves to check the oil and water, but the battery being out of sight, is easily forgotten. Anyway, just a quick reminder that if you often overlook to check the battery, then please accept this advice and do check it as often as you do the oil and water. Cheers, Phil |

Bloody hell Phil, what caused that? I know batteries need regular TLC but I have never seen one just start leaking. |

Dunno mate - it's a maint free battery that came with the car. The acid was leaking out of one or two of the cells nearest to the headlight. It ain't pretty I'll need to get it repainted. Phil |

Phil I know what you mean about the mess - in another life some fifty years back I looked after huge batteries on airfield vehicles and some of these were ancient (I am sure they were WW1) and cracked and the mess these things made - etched their way through the floors. |
