MG MGF Technical - Horn failure
Sorry to hijack this thread as well but I require some urgent assistance! Serious ones at that......the horn sounds every time I touch or move the steering wheel or brush my finger against one of the horn buttons.....problem started yesterday when I noticed that the horn would sound if I pulled the wheel forwards gently....did this by complete accident at a set of lights whilst adjusting my sitting position and got some angry looks from other drivers....then got home parked up and an hour later found that I couldn't even move the wheel without the horn sounding on constant....not to be confused with the alarm sound. Motor spent the night in the garage and I'm now very concermed as what to do.....any ideas for a cure? I assume I will have to remove the steering wheel to fix the problem but obvioulsy want to avoid killing myself with the airbag! |

Maybe a fauly rotary coupler in the steering wheel or a short in the wiring. It could also be a broken horn switch or something. I recall a thread in the last few months of someone who had the same, or just the opposite and it turned out to be the rotary coupler, but I think you have a short in the steering wheel. Good luck, Johan |
