MG MGF Technical - How much clearance?

Hi, I am about to fit a 6 Disc CD Changer to my MG TF. I like the idea of fitting it on the carpeted panel(I will need to drill into this panel for the mounting brackets) behind the drivers seat. I know behind this is the Fuel tank. How much clearance is between this panel and the Fuel tank. I had a quick look this afternoon and there is carpet with sound deadening material behind.
Please help,
Gary.

Best advice from others on the board seems to be not to drill into this panel at all. There isn't a lot of clearance.

Normally it is amps that people fit here and mounting these it is suggested to use strong velcro or to mount onto some MDF or similar and then velcro the MDF to the panel.

Another alternative would be to fit the changer in the glovebox (I took this route). A six stacker should fit no problems and less of a distance for the connecting wires to go!
