MG MGF Technical - HT lead tip
When you replace your HT leads can I suggest that you check the plastic strip that covers the spark plugs, the piece of plastic with ROVER on it. I happened to remove this strip again yesterday, having replaced the leads last week, and found that one of the leads had a nick in it. Checking the cover I found the end where the HT leads emerge was extremely sharp. I have now filed the end off this cover and I would suggest that you all check this when you replace your leads, or next have the cover off the engine. Ralph |

Nice one Ralph - did you know about the small piece of rubber hose trick, to keep the leads away from the screw heads in that channel? Probably really annoying if you didn't, but next time you're in the engine bay... Basically those screw heads get v hot, and cn really damage the leads that go past them unless some form of spacer is used. E |

Thanks, Ed, I didn't know that - I'll check it next time I'm there (fitting the K&N that I bought at Silverstone - must remember to ring the insurance company). Ralph |
