MG MGF Technical - Immoniliser

Hi

Have had a problem and now cannot get in to mg mgtf. The battery is now fully charged and the handset has a new battery in it.

However the door will not open with the key and the handset is not doing anything.

Assume that there is a problem with the immobiliser.

Can anyone offer advice?

Thanks
Jill

The key and immobiliser are not linked, the key problem is mechanical, worn key sticking lock etc. an immobiliser problem will not stop a key from working to open a door but it will not allow the engine to start.
Try pressing the locking button three or four times it may reset. also try disconnecting the battery wait a minute or two and connect it up and try again.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the advice. Disconnecting battery seemed to solve the problem.

The car is for sale if you know of good places to advertisse. Its a 2005 MG TF RHD but currently in Switzerland.

Thanks again for your advice.

Glad I could help. Good luck with the sale.

It is worth twice as much in Switzerland relative to UK (assuming that it is Swiss registered).
Do you know your local MGCC Switzerland Natter Organiser ???
