MG MGF Technical - Induction on the TF
OK this may be jumping the gun a bit as the TF doesn't arrive for 3 weeks, but.... I have a a 96P VVC with a K&N 57i fitted. Now, I a m not sure it's worth fitting a 57i to the TF. But, if I wanted to, will the one from the F fit the TF? And, if not, is it worth replacing the TF panel filter with an K&N panel or similar. Has anybody tried any of this and has it made a difference (sound or power)? |

David, the K&N 57i will fit straight on, no problem. You'll get to keep the lovely K&N 'growl' :o) Power difference? Hmm, maybe not. The new induction system is a signficant advance over that fitted to the majority of MGFs. Probably about equal, with a small penalty in the midrange unless you can fashion a heat shield or airbox for the cone filter. An MGF panel filter from any manufacturer will fit into a TF airbox. They are all about the same as we found on the MGF, but perhaps the higher flow characteristics may result in a better gain in performance? I don't know. Need to do some RR testing! |

In addition to what Rob has said, don't forget that the filter size has changed on the later cars, if you go the route of a panel filter make sure you get the right size.HTH Mike. |
