MG MGF Technical - Insurance advice
Hi all, Asking on behalf of someone, who is getting an MGF - does anyone have any recommendations on companies who do good deals with these cars? Just want a number of suggestions to give us a bit of an idea as you can spend hours asking thousands of companies! It is a S-reg with hardtop, driver is 31, 1 year NCB, but no previous claims, 0 points. Many thanks in advance. |

Sorry forgot to mention it is the VVC version (one insurance group up). Will that make much difference?? |

Actually the VVC is 2 groups up - it's group 15. Unfortunately there's no definitive answer, if you search the archives you'll find hundreds of recommendations and they'll all be different. What is cheap for one driver isn't for another; the only solution really is to shop around. Having said that, my best quotes were from Elephant and Admiral, but it all depends on the driver, the postcode, the type of use, the phase of the moon etc. For comparison, I'm 24 with 4 years protected NCB and have my VVC with modifications insured for class 1 business use and parked in the road in Surrey for £650. Not much help, I'm afraid! Tim. |

http://www.confused.com is a good starting place. Enter details once and get about 10 quotes from different companies. |

When I tried Confused every single one came back as "would not quote" - interestingly, though, the list of companies included my previous insurer, my current insurer and at least 3 others who had quoted me independantly! As always, YMMV! Tim. |

Hi, I went with Admiral. 25 years old, 3 yrs NCB, Car on drive = £400. Wheeeeee! |

I would concur that there are too many variables and Company variances to reccomend a particular company however the cheapest answer is to spend an hour getting On-Line quotes. Geoff F. |

Hi I would agree to shop about a bit - however I have found Tesco on line to be very cheap - just renewed on a 1.8i 97 F type for £367 including £50 to protect the no claims. More Than > have also been quite good. |

Direct Line for me v reg 1.8i, ah but i've been around a bit at 48, 7 years NCB car on drive £215. |

Zurich are good for mods - they don't seem to believe in them! Despite my K&N, EBC brakes and Bilsteins they still call my car unmodified. Alternatively, there are a few 'recommended' brokers like Peter Best and Adrian Flux. HTH Jamie |

I had to shop around loads when I bought my VVC. Being only 22, some places were quoting ridiculous amounts. I found the best to be Bell Direct, at £640 with 5 years protected no claims |

Have you tried Peter Best, If you can cope with a limited milage of 6k per year, my bill is £240 fully comp with full european breakdown recovery. don |
