MG MGF Technical - Juddery Motion ?!?!
Hi again, Following on from the excellent response to my petrol smell question, here's another..... When I pull away I get a slight juddering feeling through the steering wheel. Is this the clutch on the way out? Or may be the clutch pressure plate? Has anyone else experienced this? By the way, I do look after my F, I just have these two problems to solve! On a non technical note.....does anyone have a Foxster windstop they'd sell to me? Many thanks! John. |

I had this too... but even worse (whol;e dash started to judder!) >clutch deformed due to overheating (going slowly rearwards steep uphill was my cause) due to wear & tear try to overheat it again to make clutch disc smooth again (as I did, judder disappeared!), but reserve some £££ in near future to replace clutch (engine blew up 1 month after this and they replaced it at same time at no-cost regarding labour since they had to take off clutch anyway!) |

John, Does your steering wheel vibrate slightly whilst stationary ? I have the judder but also this vibrating thing as well. Gaz |

Gaz, My steering wheel only judders when I pull away. Whilst stationary it's fine. (I think). Dirk, I'm not too sure on this making it hot to fix it thing! I might just live with it the way it is!! Thanks! |

I find the rear brakes tend to jam a little on the disk after being parked up, particularly in the wet. This can cause a little resistance as you pull away. Could be the clutch, but I would NOT advise you to try and burn the clutch flat and when I hear Dirk say things like this I really do wonder about the reasons for some of his problems. This suggestion could be an entry in a book called "How to F**k your car". |
