MG MGF Technical - Jumpy when cold
My 2000MY Steptronic has suddenly started being a bit jerkey when the engine is cold. It feels as if there is a dead area when first depressing the throttle at slow revs. I've recently moved and my car is now garaged every night. Does anyone know what could be causing this and what I can do about it; it never used to be like this and is fine when engine has got upto temp. I have a 52mm TB and K&N fitted. Cheers, Nigel |

Nigel, I also have a Steptronic (10,000 miles, bog standard)garaged overnight. In the morning going to work I take it out of the garage (well you would wouldn't you)- runs fine, no problems at all. However, after sitting in the car park at work for a few hours I've also noticed that it can be a little jumpy (I must stress "little", I only notice it because I know the car)for the first 100m or so when travelling at very low speed towards the car park exit. Once I hit the road though no problems at all, even before it reaches normal working temp). The other thing that I've noticed is that when warm its not just as sharp at starting as it used to be. Both problems might be solved with a service. To be honest, I'm not overly concerned about either of these little quirks. Hope you're problem isn't anything to worry about - it must still be under waranty, why not take it to you dealer. David |
