MG MGF Technical - K&N filter not upto the job?
I decided to upgrade my throttle body with a 52mm alloy Trophy one. I had fitted a K&N filter approx 2 years ago (only 3,000 - 4,000 miles ago). When I went to remove the old plastic throttle body I noticed a layer of fine dust/dirt on the interior surface which was gritty. I am concerned because it appears that the K&N filter may not have been filtering properly. I checked for any leaks in the system but could find none. I am otherwise very happy with the K&N set up but am now worried about bore wear caused by inadequet filtration. I reoiled the filter before refitting but was wondering if anybody else has had similar experience. |

Not ever seen this with my K&Ns - I wonder if there is a problem with the oiling or a manufacturing fault? I once had the end plate of my K&N filter fall off, and good to their word, K&N replaced it free of charge (1,000,000 mile guarantee). |

Reoiled it again and cant see any obvious holes etc. Will keep an eye on it to see if it is any better now. |
