MG MGF Technical - K&N query
Started the *F* yesterday and there was one terrific rattle - which lasted for just a couple of seconds. Pulled the car forward and there lying in the drive was the the metal K&N logo plate from the the front of the filter. QUESTION - does it do anything other than make the filter look nice? It look just like it is a lable to me. Ted |

To be honest Ted i don't know, but i'm tending to agree with you - it's probably just a cosmetic finishing plate. SF |

I guess you've done the obvious and checked for a bigarse hole on the end of the filter - If no hole no drama, if hole then fix it quick as the filter ain't working no more! Dont K&N give their filter a million mile warrenty? |

Yep Will - no gaping mouth showing or change to intake noise - which is why I asked the question as it seems like an uneccesary expense to fit this rather attractive and well made 'dish' Ted |

>it seems like an uneccesary expense to fit this rather attractive and well made 'dish' At least 90% of K&N's are fitted by boy racers because they're pretty - A trick that K&N clearly havn't missed! |

Now - does that put me in the 90 or the 10 percent bracket :-) Ted |
Ted Newman |
Because of the position in the F, 10% but blood relative of the 90 if you brought it just for the noise ;-) |

Same thing happened to my K&N a year or two back Ted. It's largely cosmetic, although I was concerned that it would leave some holes in the filter so that unfiltered air could enter the engine. I contacted Leslie at Kinnor (now http://www.Filterpower.com) - and she arranged replacement by return of post. K&N really do honour their 1,000,000 mile warranty! :o) |
