MG MGF Technical - Leaking heater box

I have just dried out the passenger footwell following a wet holiday in France. Having studied the BBS archive my problem isn't new - I have a leak by way of the heater box. Unfortunately I am unable to cure the leak as I need more detailed info from anyone who managed to DIY. Several screws and bits of plastic have been removed and I am now down to the actual black box behind the brake master cylinder and have carefully poured water into it to find it both leaking from the pipe inside the car and flowing out of the hole in the bottom onto the garage floor. What seals need attention or how do I get the box out to fix or change it. I have read about a modified box being fitted under guarantee but even Rover's goodwill may be stretched as the car is nearly 4.5 years old. Hoping someone out there is an expert I will leave the F in bits meanwhile.

Like you my *F* is 4.5 years old but as yet has not leaked at that place,

But what I seem to remember is that you dont take the box out instead you force new seal round it, in fact I think some have used mastic such as bathroom tile sealer.

Sorry I can't be more of a help.
