MG MGF Technical - Lowering knuckles

Have just fitted 16" wheels to the car and now have alot of room north of the tyre.I have spoken to Maidstone Sports car and advised to fit lowering knuckles but they say them are out of production.
I do not want to just lower the sphere to get the affect .Also any idea on the size for a new spare.
All answers gratefully received. Jamie

Jamie,

Try Brown + Gammons, Moss or MGF Centre, they all list the lowering knuckles, don't lower the hydragas pressure and try and do it that way !

Unless you have the AP calipers, the ordinary space saver spare should be ok.

Thanks Jay , will try moss in the morning.

They may supply the pin on its own - but the parts can be transfered from your existing knuckles to the new reasonably easily.

One other alternative is to have either the knuckle or the displacer cone machined to achieve the desired ride height...

Rob's right, but keep in mind that the white plastic bit (part of the knuckle) can be broken. So it could be usefull to have a spare knuckle somewhere reachable.

The knuckle has the following parts:
- pin (smaller item if it's a lowering knuckle)
- metal plate/piece, located under the pin.
- white plastic thing, keeping it all together
- black rubber gaitor
- green, small spring/clip
- orange, larger spring/clip
Other things:
- distance washer (use it on the same corner where it was removed)
- spring

Louzy pictures, taken by mobile phone.. apologies for that.

You are correct ,moss b&g only now supply the pin at £14 each. Maidstone sports car have quoted £200 labour plus parts and any extra knuckles should they break on removal. Thanks Jamie
