MG MGF Technical - Magnecor HT Leads
After numerous damp starting problems (99 VVC) i decided to go down the new HT leads route, based on advice from the list. I bought the magnecor (8.5 mm) leads from Mike Satur. Since fitting the car starts easier, is not lumpy during warm up, and general pickup is significantly improved. The car has also started twice in the wet, when it would have normally struggled. In re-cap I am VERY pleased with them. Roger. |

Dave, From looking through archives when researching possible fixes to my starting problems, alot of F'ers suggest replacing plugs (and leads) at 24k. I havent changed mine yet, but it is next on the list. They recommend the platinum tipped variety, so if you are replacing them anyway, IMO you might aswell get better ones. Upon inspection the points and plugs looked pretty clean, but the HT connectors (the points end) were extremely rusty / coppery. HTH Rog |

Keiron I've got the magnecour leads fitted and they make no difference to AM reception. Must get round to straightening the yellow AM wire. |
